Flu shots

Lately flu shots have come into light and much disscussions . We have not only our regular flu shots but yet you have the H1N1 shot better known as swine flu . I have seen quite a few questions about weather we know enough about the swine flu vaccine to be giving it to our kids and how many deaths are going to result from getting both the regular flu vaccine and the swine flu vaccine and will one shot cancel the benefits of the other . I 'm sorry but I have not had a flu shot in ten yrs and have not had the flu since (knock wood ) . I have rarely been sick except for the d . That in itself is enough in my opinion to drive anyone over the cliff LOL !!! I am entered into a yoga class and the yoga teacher was spraying her classroom with lysol the other day and she absoloutly went to town with it . Now my cousin was stating that her dr said that most likely the media is blowing this totally out of propotion in his opinion . Oh well I will close here for now . Remember to be carefull out there among them english .

    I haven't had a flu shot in about the same amount of years. Knocking on wood too.
    I am skeptical, once again, about doing it this year. My mom brought it up. I don't know.
    Whatever.

    Difficult choice - panorama last night was highlighting the choices and it doesn't look easy. fingers crossed we can all avoid the bugs this winter.

    One of my titles in nursing if that of Communicable Disease nurse. Public Health has all sort of titles. I fear new bugs and I greatly respect old ones. The seasonal Flu Shot is made with a DEAD virus, therefore it can not give you the flu. Although, the Flu Mist is made with a live virus. It has been shown to be more effective in certain age groups. Flu vaccines are guess work as it is never known what combo of virus strains will show up in any given year. We have only had two expierences with the "swine Flu." In 1918 and in 1976. We have come a long way since 1976 in vaccine research. I am out and about among the "sickly" English...You can bet I am getting my immunizations.     It's always something isn't it?! I was reading on your blog- my mom was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes earlier this year. It's been a lot of life changes for her. Thanks for sharing all your great info! I'm now a follower :)

    Try your health department for immunizations, they should be free.

    I *think* that Jada may have had H1N1 earlier this summer- but we're still getting her the vaccine when it's available. Just can't take a risk with her little body. She had the regular flu shot this week.
