Have been very busy with my garden

As you can see I have been plucking tomatoes left and right from my garden and have also had enough san marzanos to make spaghetti sauce and oh my was it good . Now these pictured are German Pink which was not very productive this season at all . and the other one is Mortgage Lifter which I like extremely well and it has wonderful taste as well . I could talk on and on about gardening but I will leave you with these lovies . Enjoy the weather and get outside and plant something .

this new addition to my fur collection LOL

Hi all and this is an introduction to my addition to my fur kids . She is an absoloute doll of course she is how could I have anything else but a doll right ?

She has been here for about three months now . I just realized we have since changed our rugs since I took this photo . and rightly so . Those old rugs were awful . Im so glad that this doll has come into our lives and she is extremely smart and talented . She has instinct that is out of this world . She has become like Velcro sticking to me and following me around the house . Oh well all take care and hang onto your boot straps .

im sorry I have not posted here since jan and that is my fault and God bless you all . I have some friends who are dealing with cancer . I think the reason I have not posted here since jan was because that was the month that my darling friend lari passed and a couple weeks ago was her birthday and I started to pick up the phone when I remember she is no longer here but with God . I guess I have gone through a deep depression when her bday hit . first bday without her and not saying happy bday to her over the phone . Now I have recent news that one of our dear friends is dealing with cancer and who just lost a son to a car accident last month . It has thrown me for a loop and I pray that it gets better soon and no more tears .

please tell me that someone is okay

For those of you who know the Limner over at Oh write me . would someone tell me that she is okay since her blog seems to have been deleted and that worries me it really does and I have not had a letter or card from her since Christmas and that was almost a month and a half ago . If anyone knows her please reach out to me and let me know she is okay . I'm truly worried especially since her blog was deleted and that is alarming to me . If anyone has heard from her please let me know when was the last time you heard from her . I am deeply concerned thanks readers and God bless us all .

Happy 2018 everyone !!!

well first off I hope everyone had a great Christmas and new years . I did and my honey surprised me with a new sewing machine and a rocking chair . I had been asking for this rocking chair forever . I also made cushions for it out of a king size sheet . I looked at all kinds of you tube videos and they showed me how to do it . I think it turned out fantastic . But I will show all of that later on in another post . I just wanted to catch up and say happy new year to everyone . I hope this year goes very well for all of us .

my newest aquisition

the first is a new curio cabinet I found at a thrift store , The second is the tree I had refered to in another post and I have finally finished what I was going to do with it . The curio cabinet caught my eye right off the bat and I got an awesome deal for it , They knocked 5.00 off .  I had this idea from the tree a while back and I love the parrots . I got this idea from a friend who recently traveled to Jamaica she said the parrots there hang out in the trees and bug the tourists there and I thought that was a neat idea and so wallah there you have it . I have plenty of room in the curio so it is calling for some more miniatures , I love miniature elephants and miniature animals . I especially love the glass ones where the light shines through them so that will be that for today readers . take care all and have a fabulous holiday .

this darling thing sent to me by a dear friend

first off I feel as though I must apologize to  my dear friend Limner over at "Oh write me " . She sent this to me some time ago and I kept telling her that I would post a picture of it as soon as I found a place for it . Well it finally has a set place in my home as a ceiling fan pull . I love it because I am a gardener as well as some of you might know already . I also have an abundance of dragon flies in the summer here . I just love it and I wanted her to know that I had not forgotten just life got in the way so now it makes its debut . I hope you will forgive me  my dear Limner it was not an oversight just life got in the way . and that tree there in the corner has a story too so stay tuned for the tale of the tree .

hi all I found these lil goodies at the thrift store as well . The pig chef is adorable and my kitchen is done in chefs so he fit right in . The vase just called out my name and come this summer I think it will look rather pretty with some roses and zinnias mixed in with maybe a marigold or two as well . thrift store shopping yesterday

Yesterday I went thrift store shopping and I love thrift stores and look what I found .

I picked up these little darlings for 1.00 yep 1.00 I just love anything French . I also picked up a dress 3.00  . Hubby picked up a desk chair , a fake ficus tree , a lamp with attached table all for 20.00 . I also haggle when I got to thrift stores you never know until you ask . I picked up other things too but I will leave those for tommorows post . stay tuned folks you never know what I will talk about next . 

Re injuring an old injury

For all my readers : Halloween is coming and I feel like a ghost yes you read that right a ghost . The last few months have been hellish for me and yes hellish indeed . My teeth gave me night mares those are fixed now and then my old ski injury has inflamed on me . I never broke anything but my knee did become distended and swollen while sking on snow years and years ago . I was a teen ager then and recovered quite nicely and no one including the ortho doctor that this could become a major pain in my older years . One would think that orthopedic doctors would warn you like they do today about being aware of re injuring it or it just being a major pain. No , they did not . So now I am in a brace again and let me tell you there are weeks when I am in a brace and full of pain still , Every dr I have ever been to about this injury tells me that surgery is not an option for this type of injury . So now my question is , do they expect a body to live on ibuprofen or pain meds for the rest of the time that we have left ? well I bought a new knee brace and I'm sorry but it is shitty to say the least and I am getting my money back on it so I can buy a better one at least and feel better or at least a semblance of less pain to put it mildly . well heres to all of you who can walk normal this week while this old gal is dragging her leg like the mummy . The downfall of america

I had a conversation about this with some friends while at dinner the other night and I happen to think it is a good subject to talk about . I was standing in line while at the grocery store a dad and his teenage son were having a discussion . The dad told the son he was only 16 and he did not need a job cause he was playing sports and getting good grades . I disagree firmly . I mean after all it says in the bible if you don't work you don't eat . I think he is doing his son a disservice by not letting him work at a job and also maintain grades , good grades that is . Sports is okay for a side line but clearly everyone should be taught how to work . That is how the world works . In essence we as parents make our teenagers lazy by not demanding that they work and become a contributing member of society . Instead parents make excuses for their children by claiming "I want them to be happy at their jobs " . who is happy at their job not very many people I know . I think parents are setting a bad standard when not allowing their teenagers to work . I cannot believe how many don't . I have worked since I was 16 yrs old . My mother put us to work cleaning other peoples houses at 1.50 an hour . did we like it ? no but we had to work and we also had to give our mother half of what we earned . She was teaching us to pay bills and to take care of our own homes .Seeing how little we had left taught us priorities and how to get them in place . These teenagers who are allowed to stay home and do nothing are not learning a darn thing but the fact that their parents are going to take care of them . Listen up folks some of these parents need a wakeup call . If you are one of them , change things and you will be glad you did .

oh boy does the mail lady reek !!! (Sorry folks this contain profanity yes im that mad )

My mail lady just went zooming by with my mail and her trail of Shalimar and her makeup stain on my letters being delivered is a little more than I can take indeed . There is not a perfume in the world that smells more repulsive than Shalimar . I'm sorry if some of you readers wear it , but frankly it gives me heaves and migraines to inhale that repulsive scent . Then there is the dark complexion makeup that is left on my mail aka letters because someone refuses to wear gloves to handle the mail . Now today she went zooming by in a rather fast fashion because I'm sure she knew I would say something to her about her makeup and her perfume . I'm done asking this woman not to do this while in the service of my mail so tomorrow morning I will visit my post office  and lodge a complaint against this woman because she does not understand what I am saying . Nor will I, take any shit from the post office manager which they have tried in the past and telling me to get a post box. My Ass will not get a post office box when I have a perfectly good mail box at the curb of my home . The reason I'm writing here is because frankly I'm pissed off and tired of getting smelly , makeup ridden mail . I have complained once before to her and someone else said well she is older and maybe she has lost her sense of smell . I wish I had lost my sense of smell , seriously folks ? I mean you have to be so careful when you are in the public eye and spectre and I wonder if some of you would say the same thing if she sent your loved one to the hospital after having a reaction to such mail and makeup ? I'm sure some of you might say I'm being overly sensitive to this issue and to that I say :Unless you have been where I'm sitting and suffering for three days with a migraine and nausea then please be quiet and let those of us who are sufferers from such odors take charge and end the madness .

well it seems as though we are coming to the end of our summer season

I can already feel the change in the air and in the am it is quite pleasant and nice . almost cool and crisp one might say . I'm looking forward to the leaves changing and the pumpkins and even a lil snow maybe ? who knows but seasons turn and time changes and life marches on . soon my flowers will bid adieu to the bright summer sun who kept them happy and cheerful . I hope that all is well and I bid adieu to summer indeed and say hello to fall and falling leaves and pumpkins and ghouls and goblins on Halloween night . Yes my dear friends season change and the world turns and time marches on .

okay folks can you see this one it says Catherine the great really ? nice thought huh but I can humbly tell you that I am not the great nor do I see myself even close to it LOL . My dear friend Limner wrote this to me and she is so sweet and good . Some of you know her to be so I'm sure . if you don't you should . Who is your favorite author ?

Are you ever asked that question ? Who is your favorite author ? well seeing as how I'm a reviewer of books I don't seem to have a favorite but do have a list of some of my favorites . Is it the style in which they write or is it the charecters they create and do we conjour up an image of what those said charecters should look like in our minds view ? and are we disappointed when the illustrator has drawn them totally different from our minds eye ? I think the reason I'm asking these is because I was asked by a pen pal who wanted to know who my favorite author was . I instead sent her a list of some of my favorites . Can you even single it down to maybe 2-3 or are you one of those lucky few that can say one is your all time favorite author and if so do you know why they are your favorite ? I would love to have some of you readers tell me why and who your fave authors are ? I'm currently reviewing John Boyne s "The Hearts invisible furies " and by the way John Boyne is an irish author and he wrote " the boy in the striped pajamas " and he is certainly on my list of favorites indeed and if you have not read anything by him I certainly would encourage you to do so . The rat pack

Now in case some of my readers are under 50 you probably did not know that the rat pack consisted of a bunch of crooners by the names of Joey Bishop , Peter Lawford , Frank Sinatra , Sammy Davis Jr, and last of all but not least of all a fellow name Jerry Lewis . Now the rat pack is complete in Heaven . This kind of ends an era for me . My Grandmother happened to love all of these fellows because their group and music was just that Good . Yes they were because I remember sitting on a porch on a Saturday morning with a dear bunch of ladies getting their hair done by my grandmother and those ladies buying me more coke and peanuts than I knew what to do with . The radio would always be on and the music of the rat pack would permeate the back porch and yard . I cannot tell you how I can still smell the scent of aqua net and  perm solution and it takes me back LOL . Now let me tell you how Las Vegas treated Sammy Davis back in those days , all the hotels in Las Vegas mainly on the strip would not let Mr. Davis have a hotel room , why you ask , because he was black plain and simple and that was all and I must say bravo to Joey Bishop because he did not patronage any hotel that would deny a room to anyone because of the color of their skin.. This post came about with the death of Jerry Lewis yesterday at the ripe old age of 91 . I hope he rests in peace and he sees all his old friends again . Just think of all those muscular dystrophy kids he helped by raising money with his telethons . I hope those same kids remember him with fondness . surprise in the garden over the weekend

Do you all see it ? yes my first ever

red sunflower . I have never seen one and it must be the only one that sprouted that is so awesome to me and I will be sure to save the seeds so that I have more red sunflowers in the future . God in all his greatness can always give us a surprise if we look hard enough . and if that is not enough I saw the first one hummingbird of the season enjoying my flowers . I don't have a  hummingbird feeder here except for the flowers so I'm not sure where he came from but he was a big hummer . oh well folks that is it for now get out and grow .

favorite bible verses

what a lovely this is . I absoloutly enjoyed reading a lot of bible verses that I had never heard of before . This was cleaverly put together as each verse has an introduction and how it can be applied to everyday life and I absoloutly love that indeed . I'm sorry spelling police I'm old or I feel that way rather . Please be gentle about my spelling thank you . do yourself a favor and get a copy of this . it is an amazing piece of work .

these are some pictures of my flower /rose gardens . you will also notice zinnias and sunflowers . pay special attention to the monarch butterfly with his yellow dots on his wings along with a silky black color . I enjoy this time of year because the butterflys really come out along with the bees . The bees really like sunflowers a lot . I would like to think that I am contributing to the bee and butterfly population . I think it is important to make sure that the bees and butterflies continue on this earth . for one without bees we would have no food because bees pollinate our flower and vegetable plants . I find that if you don't swat at bees they tend to leave you alone as well so please teach your kids and grandkids not to swat at bees and most likely they will never be stung in their lifetime . enjoy the photos folks ,

Storms amd lighting

we had some bodacious storms here Friday night and they skies opened up with tons of rain I tried to get a photo of the lighting but mother nature would not co operate and give me one so these horrific looking clouds were all I got . Oh well guess that is what you get for wanting to capture lighting on film so bad ....
