D Blog day
Well November 14th is world diabetes day and I find it amazing that half of the major metropolitan areas are not doing anything special for world diabetes day . I cannot believe that , it just goes to show you that in the grand sceme of things that diabetes is put on the back burner so to speak . It shows you that diabetes is a very little thought about disease in the big order of things . So if someone can understand why diabetes is such a little thought about disease . I would like to know why . We work so hard to bring it to the fore front and yet major citys in the country do nothing to bring it to the fore front . I think alot of people perpetuate myths about diabetes such as the tv show "modern family " on Abc . Hallie at "welcome to my world " informed me of this and you all know i just had to give them my opinion about perpetuating a myth right ? I think this is why most of us have such a harder row to hoe than most , so to speak . Okay well I did my part for today and yes my numbers unfortunately are still all over the place kids . Be carefull out there among them english and negative ghost rider . Take care and blessings .

I know it is so frustrating. The thing that I don't understand is how doctors still to this day are having an unbelievably hard time diagnosing type 1. That blows my mind, it is not a expensive test for goodness sakes all you need is some pee and a stick. It is not a test that takes a long process maybe 15 seconds to see if there is sugar in there pee? (I'm really not sure on the time for the test) But give me a break. Something like 40 children a day are diagnosed with Type 1 and still doctors are turning parents away say don't worry it is only a virus or here is some antibiotics. Ridiculous!! I'm sorry to go off topic but it is just so madding that educated people (doctors) just don't get it either! (and of course not all doctors)
ReplyDeleteHERE HERE!!!!!! Seriously....we need to turn this world UP SIDE DOWN...and blue!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry nothing is going on near you...it's just not right. :(
ReplyDeleteWe don't have anything happening here to my knowledge! Bummer...but I don't expect much living in remote Fairbanks, AK!
ReplyDeleteI gave them my opinion, too! :)
I think the perception to those outside the world of Diabetes is that it's "controllable" so it's okay. After meeting Cathy on here and reading Wendy's "Candy Hearts" blog, I'm really amazed at how much time and effort there is to managing it. People just don't know the extent of it.
ReplyDeleteNot sure if anything is happening in my area. I think last year a couple places lit up in blue. I hope they do it again. Local ADA was good at pushing it. We shall see.
ReplyDeleteNumbers all over the place for me too. Grrr.
And "Modern Family." Oh....I was SO disappointed. I like that show. Oh how that mad me MAD. (sigh)
Happy Dblog Day either way!
The ugly needs to come out. Diabetes KILLS, across the life span :(
ReplyDeleteI guess we have to believe that with the growing online community around the world, diabetes will move to the front burner.
ReplyDeleteHappy d-blog day to you! :-)
Happy d-blog day!! I don't think there is anything going on here to d day either. We can get online and do something crazy together!!
ReplyDeleteAfter participating in the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes in Tempe (appx 20,000 in attendance) I expected it would be front page of the paper. I never saw any coverage, I was so sad.
