I have heard alot of mess when going through airports but really ? Really ?

When will we as type 1 diabetics be able to go through an airport without a problem ? I have heard alot about t1s having problems at airports lately . I guess in retrospect this makes me awfully glad I dont wear a pump but feel for t1s that do and I cannot understand why the TSA would question a medical device ? I have to carry syringes since I dont use a pump and am constantly asked when traveling why I have syringes . I also have a very bright medical alert bracelet clearly stating that I am an insulin dependant diabetic . So from my understanding the TSA is not training their people correctly in recognizing medical devices , clearly stated medical alert bracelets and drs notes , have I got that down now ? Is that correct that the TSA does not train their people to notice or recognize these things ? I also think that we as T1 diabetics should sit down with some TSA agents and the head of the TSA on the Dr. Phil show and educate these people as to how we want to be treated and how we should be treated at all airports , with respect and dignity that you seem to show everyone else but people with medical devices , syringes and insulin !!! I think the TSA need to learn some respect for people with medical conditions . What say the rest of you ? Shout it out and let me know what you think .

  1. I support you 100 %. My mom is diabetic. They untied her shoes, made her remove them--She was in a wheel chair--and no one retied them after they let her through. And that poor woman wearing the Depends? That's totally disrespectful! It's letter-writing time.

They drop the ball when it comes to real threats. Shame-shame-shame!

  2. The TSA employees are not well trained at all. I really dislike traveling by plane and glad I don't have to do that often. I'm liking the train a lot these days, but they don't go over the ocean. TSA is so intrusive and uneducated. It's embarrassing that they are so ignorant.
