Holding up the unniverse

You know I don't think I have read such an utterly more depressing book in my lifetime . Besides the language being rather salty , the whole bunch are ready to jump off a cliff in my opinion . These charecters are beyond sad and depressed . If I saw my teenager reading this book I would be so ready to grab it away from them . There is absoloutly no way I could recommend this book to any of my friends because I thought it so depressing ugh !!!No thank you I hope the next one is better because after reading this mickey mouse would be refreshing .

cooking for picaso

this came as an audio book and it was quite the suprising and nice little read . I had a lot of fun listening to this one . I felt sorry for Ondine the girl who was cooking for her mother and her restaurant . she then meets a  man who will change her world in all kinds of ways . I thought it to be a nice book and funny as well . I think it would be a delightful read for anyone who likes to read .

the innkeeper of ivy hill

I guess you could say this was not my favorite of this author . It was a tedious read for me and the character development could have been a lot better in my opinion . I have read other books by this author in which she did a much better job than this one . Sorry but I don't think I liked this one as much as her others . Of course now I have read other folks blogs that said they liked this one . Maybe the other ones were more well written . I have to say I loved the cover on this book it looks very English countryside if you will . I wish I could say something else nice but it is just not there for me the way her others are and were .

A book im sure I will re read many times

this is a book I'm sure I will re read many times . This author applied practical knowledge and bible scripture to change the way you think about things . It was very insightful and in depth . I actually applied some of these to my life and wallah they actually worked which is a miracle in and of itself . I think any faith follower and believer would enjoy this book I mean it took me a few days to get it but after I did , wow just wow . I encourage all of you to read this book .

The secret language of dogs

I loved this book and even after having dogs most of my life since I was in grade school , I still managed to learn a few things . I like how Victoria went into detail about the body language and the tail motions etc ...I recommend this book for anyone who is owned by a dog big or small . I don't want to give too much of it away , but I'm just telling everyone I know to read it . I read it one day that is how much it captivated me . A little lulu fan

I want to thank a friend for giving me the idea of this post . Her post was about cartoons and she mentioned little lulu . well I found this little lulu in a thrift store outside Columbus ohio on one of my jaunts or day trips shall we call it and so I present to you little lu lu and for those of you who are too young to remember little lu lu she was a comic book character from the 1960's I do believe of course I could be wrong on that so don't quote me on that thanks . I guess this book was not my cup of tea

well this book was certainly not my cup of tea . I felt like the author was saying it was okay to be a slave to my family and friends and spouse and honestly I lost my cool and did not even finish it . I felt like nothing was happening except me becoming depressed from reading this book . I could continue no longer reading or I would be withdrawn and sullen .

Natalie Grant's Finding your voice

Wow what a powerful book and how she interjects personal struggles throughout the book . I say kudos to her for that . However she also added scripture to back up what she was talking about . I thoroughly enjoyed this book and her personal stories . I think she is an awesome lady and certainly enjoyed this book much more than I thought I would . I would say if you are a Christian and going through some struggles get this book . you wont be sorry ....

A primary decision

What an awesome book and it certainly had me thinking about the recent elections for sure .Sarah Worthington sure captured my attention indeed . I think she proved to be tough as nails and then some . Makes one wonder what would they find in your closet if you were being vetted for a position in government ? I think she is brave and a worthy opponent to say the least and those are two very good qualities to have and I do think she has them . . Could you imagine having to prosecute the President of the United States ? how bold ? how brash ? well I don't want to give too much of this book away . I do want to say thank you to Bethany house and revell  books for giving me a copy in exchange for my honest review . Thank you so much again .

Another great book

Another great book and one for the records of being a best book of the year . If you read Amanda eyre wards book before you know she takes you on a journey and this book is no exception . This book has so many good twists and turns and it just makes you guess where it is going and then boom you guessed wrong I loved this book . She has written another one I love too and the name escapes me right now but read her others as well . I loved this book and thank you to goodreads for allowing me to win this as a giveaway ....

fatal frost by nancy mehl

I had the opportunity to received this book from Bethany house publishers and they are great by the way . I absoloutly loved this book and will most definitely read more from Nancy Mehl . If any of you have not read any of her books then I urge you to pick one up . I don't want to give too much away but the way she captured the daughter and step dad relationship was truly spot on . 20th anniversary of Under the tuscan sun book

Well this book is just awesome and I cannot believe it has already been twenty years since Frances Mayes wrote and published this book . This book had me wanting to move to Italy , long before anyone heard the name Amanda Knox . I'm not sure how Italians look at americans now . I hope favorably . But this book described so much in detail right down to the faucets she put in the house she bought . I do think she fell in love with not only this house but the country is what she fell in love with . If you have not read it you should do so . My god it is such an awesome book . Read it ....

One to five is just awesome

Ladies and Gents this is the cookbook for you if you don't have a lot of time . I have already made two recipes out of this book and they were wonderful . I have made the garlic bread soup . Man oh man , it was awesome . The chilli I also tried and my husband said that was the best chilli he had ever had and he wanted me to highlight the recipe for him so I did and let me tell you I am married to the most picky eater in the world LOL . This would also make an awesome Christmas gift as well for the cooks in your circle . I am sure this cookbook will get used a lot .

wonderful for your walk in faith

When I got this book I took it over to the nursing home I volunteer at and the elderly sugars just loved to use it during our prayer circle and our devotional each morning . I love using this and will continue to use it . Thanks to booklook bloggers for this copy in exchange for my honest review .Well I certainly recommend that all Christians get this book . It will help you so much in your daily walk with Christ and it will remind you that God is always with you .

I could not put this book down and read it in two days yeah two days . It gives us a peek into someone s life and relationship with their family and it was so good . I thoroughly enjoyed it and found it so refreshing to actually read about someone else's family . I hope you all will get a copy and read it . Another fave book to add to my list . The devil in Jerusalem by naomi ragen

This book should have been titled child abuse in the holy city . It was truly disturbing to read some of this and I will skip going into detail about that . I purchased this book from amazon because I thought I would like it . It was highly disturbing and put some of me in distress . I had to put it down several times to clear my head . I'm sorry to this writer Ms Ragen but it is the truth and to think it is a true story , my heart went out to these children . The story ends with telling what happened to these children , parents and most of who were involved . So be prepared dear readers if you get this book have tissues and remember to sit it down when you cant read anymore . I will give this book 3 stars not really a favorite but interesting .

Niv faith and work bible

thank you to booklook blogger for sending me a copy of this . Oh my goodness I have learned so much from this bible and we have a prayer circle in my lil nursing home experience and these ladies and two gentleman over 70 mind you have never heard of some of this and I certainly did 'nt either and we all had quite a good discussion about certain parts of this bible . I did enjoy and if you want to keep learning this is certainly the bible for you . I urge all Christians to get this bible .

The art forger by Barb Shapiro

This book made me angry because first off Claire the main character knew she was painting a fake for someone and they were going to try and pass it off as an original and to me that equals a crime and I don't think people should think of crime as a poof poof sort of thing . This book made me angry more than anything else and this person did understand an artist at all . I am a little bit of an artist somewhat and I would not like someone copying my work and trying to pass it off as their own . There you have it folks this book is a 3 stars and I'm being generous really .

Another great book

Wow another great book . I really did like this one . I think God must have been using this wedding shop to make Cora re discover her faith . I think ladies of faith would like this book . I really cant put into words about how much I liked this book . I usually use a star system and this one was somewhere between 4 and a half to five stars . I will not go too much into depth because that will definitely give some of the book away and I don't want to do that . Just read this book you wont be disappointed .

Child of the river by Irma Joubert

this book was advertised as ww 2 era historical fiction with scripture in it as well . This book I would describe as some left over apartheid from south Africa . This girl was poor and her father was a drunk and she wanted to make something of herself and she certainly did and did well for herself and others she helped . I will not say more than this because it will give away too much of the book . I certainly did enjoy this book very much and learned a lot about history of the war in different parts of the world .It is very much worth the read and I highly recommend it .I want to thank booklook for sending me this copy in exchange for my honest review .

This book was clearly written by someone who had no love loss for Amanda knox . I think that this author might have had her own questions as to the guilt or innocence of Amanda knox . I still do believe that Amanda should have come home when asked by her mother . This book opened up some answers to questions I had about this whole ordeal and those made for tv movies did not do it for me . I think after reading this one , Ms. Knox should write her own memoir about her time in Italy it could clear up a lot . I did enjoy this book very much and it was a decent read . this book could have been so great

This book could have been so great . The long winded narrative killed this book for me and made it painful to continue to read . I could not even find one character to like and that my dear friends is sad ,truly sad . I was so looking forward to this book being good but no it was not so spare yourself the agony and skip this one . I hope Ms Walker does a better job on her next book because frankly this one was a dud and the publisher and editor should have let her know that before putting it on the shelf . I give it 3 stars out of five and that is being generous .

using human trafficking for entertainment is not my idea of a good book

This book was a shocker to me from chris bohjalian . I was shocked and saddened by this book . This is from one of my favorite authors as well . This book took human trafficking to a form of entertainment and not my idea of a good well written story . It was so graphic there should be a sticker warning on it . I felt betrayed by one of my fave authors and cant say why he would think this subject would be good to write about and also how can you find pleasure or excitement in someones life falling apart and yet they keep compounding the problem . This book left me troubled and uncomfortable and that is all I can say about it without giving the plot and most of the story away .I'm very disappointed in one of my favorite authors and hope his next book is far better than this one left me feeling . I give it two stars out of five .

Have any of you just have one of those days where just everything stinks and then beyond stinks ? yeah that is the type of day I have had . I cannot fathom how some things start out great and end really badly . I wont allow this to ruin my day though cause I have had some feedback from other people who say my blog is perfect and it suits me and that is right .It suits me and I don't publish this blog for anyone else except me and my followers and my book reviews . If any of you know any publishers or writers looking to get their books out there and reviewed please point them here I will be happy and shamelessly glad to promote their book . the ultimate book on Chicago' s newspaper business

This book gives you the insight on how hard it was for women to break into the newspaper business . How women could write society columns for the newspaper but not serious articles with their names and by lines . These women paved the way for other women to enter the newspaper business . I had no idea how hard it was for women in the 1950's to be something other than a housewife wearing a dress while doing said housework . I cannot imagine mopping a floor in a dress , yet thousands of women did so in the 1950's . Thank God for women who took us out of the home and into the work world . This book is awesome and thank you Ms Renee Rosen for writing this awesome book . I purchased this book off of amazon and it was an excellent read . Thank you to all of those women who did knock those doors down .

what an uplifting and spirit filled book

This book just took me back to the country side of Pennsylvania . Many times I have driven through there and have seen the amish buggys riding on the roads and their ever faithful horses making sure those buggys go . This book has some very spirit filled and complex charecters indeed . God is trying to show charlotte a path that will lead her in the right direction . Maybe that is what is wrong with most people in this book that they are afraid to let God lead them . But dear sweet Hannah seems to bring Charlotte back to her amish side . Poor Jacob ends up on Charlottes front porch after leaving his family . I don't want to give away most of the book so I do believe I will leave it there . I found this book to be a 4 stars out of 5 . After you read the book you might see why I gave it 4 out of 5 . I want to say thank you to booklooks .com for sending me this book in exchange for my honest review .

I just wanted to put our best wishes forward for folks going through this hurricane on the coast . It has killed several people in Haiti and many in its path for sure . I pray that it is over soon and our eastern coastline is back to normal before we know it . I urge everyone to say a special prayer tonight before you rest and Thank God for our safety and our loved ones safety .

What a Mess !!!

Normally I don't air political anything on my blog . But after last night's debacle of a vice presidential debate . I feel I must say that I have never seen more of a rude gas bag than Mr Kaine . He consistently interrupted Mr, Pence and was obviously not taught manners as a child . Both of these men talked over each other most of the time . The moderator lost control of the situation from the start . I will no longer watch any of these messes of debates . Frankly Hilliary and Kaine deserve each other rude and disgusting people . No wonder half this country is confused and don't know who they are voting for when the time comes .And another thing you celebs who say you are moving if a certain person becomes president , why wait ? That plane and car etc goes both ways why not leave now . Okay I m done with my rant aka political views .

I was swept back to 1900s Panama and the construction of the panama canal . The charecters were fascinating and I knew little about this adventure of building the panama canal and this book brought it to life . I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I think whoever reads who enjoys bits and pieces of history will also like it . Praise God I can finally hear again !!!

For those of you who know I had a serious sinus infection and then some . Well this morning something disgusting fell out of my ear and now I have hearing back in it , praise God . I have been like this for almost a month and now and now I can hear again . No more what ? what did you say ...yes , yes , yes . I'm getting a new cabinet for my bathroom thank God because I had no idea what I was going to do with those last few pieces of bathroom accessories I needed . So that is that for the first weekend in October .

The tea planters wife review

 This was an awesome book this book swept me away to Ceylon . This lady of the plantation was a strong woman and willfull as well . I wish they had written more about what types of tea were planted on the plantation and how they cultivated it . However this book focused on the family that lived in the plantation . some parts of this book I found personally disturbing but that is me . Some people might not find it disturbing . All in all I did enjoy this book and highly recommend for all of you who read this blog . take care all . Today from my garden

Yes I do enjoy when gardening pays off and it certainly did the last month or so . This morning I picked this lettuce fresh out of my garden . Now I planted it amongst my flowers in my flower bed and when I do that the wild rabbits leave it alone guess they are afraid of the big thorns that grow on my rose bushes . I'm so proud of myself and I will share this with my husbands co worker since he does seem to like food and things grown by people . so I'm really proud of this accomplishment and I do think I am anointed to grow things .My husband does not garden and I don't think he really understands me being tickled pink about things growing from seed and yes I grew this lettuce from seed .

This book oh my gosh this book

Oh my goodness this book was awesome and I must say this does classify as one of the best books I have read this year . And you may notice I made a bookmark to match this book without giving too much away . I often do that make a bookmark to match the book and this one was very fitting . I love most of the charecters in this book as well and that my friends rarely happens . I felt swept away to the time of this book and not many books can do that but this one certainly did and boy oh boy I cannot say enough good things about this book . It is well worth the read my dear ones and I just loved it . Okay enough gushing go run and get a copy of this book you will not be disappointed .,I purchased this book from amazon and I must also add that this book had some unedited portions in it and I was also amazed that an editor worth his or her grain of salt would have let this book go to print like that . Brutally honest again folks . I wont apologize for being honest and neither should you ,

Onto my next book

This book got here today and I'm anxious to read it . I think learning about how things happen the way they do is quite interesting . Why do people feel like that they need to bathe in perfume and gag others ? , when I do believe that perfume makers did not intend their product to be used that way . I do believe that they did intend to make a product that was to be used lightly thus maybe one or two spritz and that is it . I see people saying oh I cant smell my perfume anymore but people around them can and therefore they over do it . In this book it does tell of how perfume plays a part in this womans life and that is the part I am going to enjoy as to how and why she thinks like she does as I'm sure many of us would find that interesting . I still cannot hear out of one of my ears and I'm hoping that the Good Lord restores my hearing out of that ear soon .well that is all for today peeps write on and keep the good mail flowing .

Just had to have a lil pretty in the house .

I just had to have a lil pretty in the house today . I cut these from my rose beds out front of my house .Now let me tell you I used to have an aunt who detested fresh flowers in her house because she said they reminded her of a funeral home . Well I'm so glad I have the opportunity to grow flowers and I must be anointed by God to grow things because usually everything I put into the ground grows . Yes I have a green thumb .But since I'm ill I just wanted a lil pretty in the house . I love having something pretty to look at .And by the way , The Obituary writer book was good but did not like the ending really .

Well today broke the camel's back

Well it is official I have a perforated eardrum in other words I have a hole in my ear drum . It is not comfortable to say the least but I'm living through it and the dr said it will take a while to heal . I am on antibiotics and musinex because a sinus infection which I was not aware of at all brought it all on . So while I'm sick I'm going to be reading and  I am currently reading this

And I'm almost done with it and will report on it when it is finished and so far it is ooh -lah -lah . and then I will be onto this

Why do squirrels make me want to wage war on them ?

Okay this morning has really torn it for me . I go to take my lil dog out to do her business and what do I notice but the second bird feeder I have put up in the front tree the lid has bee chewed threw . Yes chewed threw , a gapping hole and teeth marks on the other side of the lid as well . As if one hole was not enough for them to make . well I managed to get some duct tape and tape it up to cover the hole and guess what if they eat through it again then they will ingest some duct tape and maybe the taste will not be so nice and they will leave it alone once and for all .I am at my wits end repairing bird feeders and also replacing sun flowers that they have managed to eat the tops off . I mean come on squirrels don't the neighbors have some fresh juicy tomatoes you can eat ? No I wont get a bb gun and shoot them as some might suggest is the way to go . I never in my life have harmed an animal and I'm not about to start . Even if it means having to replace the bird feeder again and again that is just what I will have to do . I'm just writing this so I can get this off my nerves but I'm wondering if any of you have had wild animals do destruction such as to my bird feeder if so please leave a comment and have a spirit filled day and may the Good Lord watch over you and yours .

This was her Christmas in july gift to me and I'm thrilled because I want to see this movie and was wondering what the book was like . But now I'm in 7th heaven not the tv show just so you know for those of you who were born in the 80s instead of the 60s . I am a proud 60s baby by the way .She also sent a lovely red linen card with white writing in it ...I loved it thank you thank you so much LImner and No I never want to see snow again but something tells me I will because on occasion south Carolina gets snow ..yes , yes it does . Okay I'm trying to find something good about snow so maybe a snow man , yes I'm playing the Pollyanna game again LOL . If you read my blog regularly you will know that reference . Okay dear readers that is enough for today but I do think that the LImner will enjoy what I sent her as well I hope she does anyways . My dear readers , do you ever look at black and white photos and wonder who these people were , what did they do for a living ? I often look at these pictures and make up stories about them . My grandmother used to do that with old black and white photos she found , Now I do that too .. I guess I must think it is fun . Tell me what story could you come up with for this photo . okay dear readers that is food for thought and I will leave you with that . May God watch over you and yours take care all .

6 days really ? shame on someone right ?

Well while doing my daily routine of internet surfing I decided to go and look and see where my pkg was from something I had gotten off of amazon and it is supposed to be delivered tomorrow (wed) after being on the road for 6 days already in the usa . Tomorrow will make it 7 days yes , 7 days from seattle Washington . Now does amazon not realize that I can get a pkg from the uk to here in less than 7 days ? maybe not or maybe they just don't care . I am going to be considering making fewer purchases from amazon if this lag in shipping continues and will look for other avenues .I know some of my readers feel the same way and if you do then please leave a comment and let me know who you are disappointed with this week , the name of a business please and as always no personal grudges please .I know husbands can be aggravating but let us leave that for another time and space . zentangles ? I m not sure if it is or not ...

I received this in the mail today from a pen friend . I could see right off it was a lion and I thought wow how neat ...I do believe they call this zentagles and if I'm wrong please inform me of such readers . speaking of reading I just finished an arc book. Arc stands for advanced readers copy . I often receive those in lieu of an honest review and I am only too happy to comply . so tell me folks am I right to go gah gah over this lion zentangle ? Oh well I will make this a short post because I have chores to do . High ho high ho it is off to work I go ...so have a wonderful night .

another photo I found while looking ....

Here is a photo I found while looking for another thing in the closet . I was looking at this photo and it brought a subject to mind . How there is no date on this photo and I m always wondering why people were not more conscious of writing dates on photos way back when so they could look back and say hey remember when ? also add the peoples names that were in the photo please because one day we are all going to join the Lord in Heaven and some of us left behind wont know who was in the picture nor their names . Leave a legacy for your kids and write the names of their grandparents , great aunts and uncles etc so the kids at least know somewhat of where they came from .....If anyone has any idea of how old this photograph might be please let me know because there is no date on it nor the peoples names . I found this photo in a junk pile in a thrift store with a lot more photos all black and whites and I thought wow how awesome .Okay readers have an awesome day or evening , May the Good Lord watch over you and yours . take care .

A promise I made to a friend

Now it took me a  few days to remember (geeze I'm getting old LOL) that I had promised to post a picture when I found it . This was a conversation I had with my good friend Limner over at Oh just write me and if you have not checked out her blog yet please do so , she is a true artist and an all around awesome woman a real powerhouse mind you .... Okay back to what I was trying to do before I got off track . This is a picture I promised to post for her because it looked very much like one she had posted earlier and I told her I would post it when I found it and low and behold I had to look for something else in the closet and came across the album that this was in . Someone just reminded me of elephants and elephants remember everything LOL ...

I for one happen to love elephants . Not many people know it is one of my passions . These are some old elephants some of them are from the 1940s and 1950s and the big orange one is a hummel aka goebel which is the name hummel used to go by in Germany . Please google if you want to know more about hummel or goebel . some of these are bone china which you don't find much of anymore . I love elephants because I think that they are by nature gentle unless provoked by human ignorance and I did mean ignorance .I don't go to circuses  much anymore because I find it disturbing that these magnificent creatures are kept in captivity at all and many die horrible deaths .Think about that please next time you visit a circus or take your kids to one . I just wanted to share this with my readers . May the good Lord watch over you and yours .

The confidant woman by Joyce Meyers

I have found this book to be very good and inspirational and it helps me everyday with my walk with God and it helps me in my prayer devotion as well . If any of you are needing uplifting then please get this book . I purchased this book off amazon for a minimal cost and it has provided so much more . Please , please I urge to get this book if you are needing prayer help and or inspiration or both . May the Good Lord keep you and yours safe and may He watch over you and yours .

I really dislike writing bad reviews on a product , trust me I really do

Now I am talking about the platinum preppy pens that I recently ordered and received . I ordered two in different nibs just to see how I liked them and oh no I don't . I don't like them at all . To be honest my cheap jinhao x750 writes so much better than these preppys . I cannot imagine a fellow fountain pen lover liking these preppys that much compared to other pens . The jinhaos glide over paper any paper but not these . They should have the title "crappy " instead of preppy attached to them .Yes folks that is how much I dislike them . I will stick with my cheap jinhao x750 model thank you . If this is what America is turning out in the way of products folks we are all doomed . Yes , get that I highly dislike these preppys . I wish I could return them but it would cost more to return them than it is to keep them . Well take care all and I wish everyone well .

Not nice Mr. Lester Holt of NBC fame , not nice at all

Now several months ago I wrote to Lester Holt , the anchor of the NBC nightly news broadcast in response to a story he did about letter writing being a lost art . Well I never received a response from him at all and I thought him very rude and can imagine what he would do if a child wrote to him ? Would it have made a difference ? , who knows . But I am here to say that letter writing is not a lost art and the letter did include some references for Mr . Holt to see . I even put my distinctive touch of mail art on it , for all of us mail artists to be thought of . I am so angry to say the least that some people just don't have the time to write back after the person who wrote the letter took the time to do so . Now I know some of you will say that those people are so busy ,well aren't we all these days ? I still find time to write . I guess it is just a matter of how your prioritize matters in your life . So I will leave it at that and should Lester Holt be advised that this blog does mention him , I would be more than happy to debate him at any time regarding the so called lost art of letter writing indeed .
